ACTIVITIES OF FAF STAFF (PRESIDENT AND FELLOWS) – SINCE 1996
The Free Africa Foundation engages in many activities that further the cause of freedom in Africa and propagate ideas on liberty. The Foundation publishes a newsletter, Freedom Bulletin, which is distributed to members and The Free Africa Review. This quarterly journal examines the progress made on economic and political reform in Africa, the nature of obstacles encountered and how to overcome them.
FAF staff also produce a whole range of articles -- from books, book chapters to op-eds for publication in various outlets and appear as guests on many television and radio stations. The Foundation has been called upon to testify before Congressional Committees on several occasions and has been cited in many Western and African newspapers. Further, the Foundation participates in, co-sponsors conferences, and provides financial support to other African organizations in creating various forums or holding conferences for the dissemination of ideas on liberty. The Foundation has provided:
Financial support to the African Students Association of George Washington University for a conference: "Charting A New Course For Africa in the 21st Century: Africa As A Key Global Player," George Washington University, Washington, DC, April 20, 2002.
Financial support to the Alliance for Democracy in Africa for a conference: "The Future of Democracy in Africa," Conference in Banjul, Gambia, August 4-11, 2002.
In addition, the Foundation has various on-going projects.
The Restoration of Democracy in The Gambia, and Zimbabwe.
The Failure of World Bank Programs in Africa. Completed in March, 2003.
Africa's Development Crisis. An on-going book project.
Restoration of Peace and Stability to Somalia. A project started with the opening of Unite Somalia as an FAF branch in Washington state.
